EASTER DOVE BREAD EASY RECIPE

Easter Dove Bread is very easy to make and perfect to prepare in advance. Unlike the traditional Easter Dove Bread, my recipe is very quick to make.  To flavor it I use orange and lemon rind and almond aroma. Also I like to add candied fruit to the dough.  Alternatively you can add chopped almonds  or chocolate chips!

EASTER DOVE BREAD – COLOMBA DI PASQUA RECIPE

The homemade Easter Dove bread is a real satisfaction! When Easter arrives the easter doves invade pastry shops, they are certainly very good, but guess what? We want a homemade Easter dove!

IMPORTANT: You need a leavening powder for pizzas and savory pies, not the usual baking powder.

The paper mold that I use in the video is 750g and is found in many supermarkets (especially during Easter) or ask your baker. Otherwise you can use other cake mold.

INGREDIENTS
3 eggs
350g flour
90g sunflower oil
170g milk,
150-200g sugar
the grated peel of 1 orange and 1 lemon
2 ml almond flavor
16 g baking powder for pizza (like Pizzaiolo)
almonds and sugar grains to decorate

You can also add raisins, candied fruit or chocolate chips to the dough.

How to make Easter Dove bread

In two bowls separate egg whites and egg yolks. Then whisk the egg whites and keep aside.

Add 150 g of sugar to the egg yolks and whisk with the blender, then add the grated peel of an orange and a lemon, add the almond flavor. Continue to mix and add 90g of sunflower oil and 170g of milk.

Mix again and begin to add 350g of flour little by little, stirring carefully. Then add the baking powder.

At this point you have to decide whether your  Easter dove is simple and delicate or you want to enrich it with other tasty ingredients, such as candied fruit, raisins or chocolate chips.

Then add the whipped egg whites you kept aside and mix gently.

The dough is ready, pour it in the mold, and garnish the surface. The traditional dove requires grains of sugar and almonds, and when you are satisfied you can bake at 180°C /355°F for 40 minutes.

Homemade Easter Dove Bread is ready, just  let it cool before you bite it!
